About the organisation
Partners in Aid Ltd is an Australian not-for-profit international development organisation involved in community-led projects implemented by local NGOs in their own communities. Operating since 1962, we currently support projects in Sri Lanka, India, Fiji and the Philippines. Funding comes primarily from donors, occasional fundraising functions, and grant submissions.
PIA’s mission is to enhance the knowledge and skills of disadvantaged communities in developing countries so they can improve health, protect the environment, improve food security and nutrition, increase income generation and overall well-being. We believe this is best achieved through strong, values-aligned partnerships with a small number of trusted overseas NGOs. We provide funding and ongoing support for projects that build local skills, improve access to services, and promote sustainable, community-driven development. In all projects, PIA adheres to ACFID and DFAT policies and is committed to inclusion, respect for local cultures and partners, and the safeguarding of adults and children.

About the role
We seek Directors who bring skills for good governance and effective international project oversight. We welcome interest from those eager to contribute to a small organisation with a half-century history of sustainable, community-building projects. International development experience/qualifications are an advantage, not essential.
To keep administrative costs low, PIA has no staff. In addition to governance, Directors take on operational responsibilities (e.g., external compliance, treasurer, IT support). Expect ~6 hours/month outside meetings (generally two hours/month).
We are currently inviting expressions of interest for two Board Director positions, and we are specifically recruiting for:
1) Communications & Marketing Coordinator – responsible for updating the website, producing the newsletter, social media posting, and maintaining/creating fundraising websites; and
2) Vice Chair & HR Coordinator – a governance-strong, people-focused director to support the Chair, conduct check-ins with Board members, and oversee HR responsibilities.
If you feel you can contribute to our organisation outside of these specific roles we would still love to hear from you.
Joining Partners in Aid provides an opportunity for people to be simultaneously involved in governance and hands-on decision making relating to all stages of the project lifecycle.
Appointment is for three years with possible re-election. Induction to Board operations and policies is provided.
If you would like further information or to discuss your suitability, please contact Silvia Hope by email at recruitment@partnersinaid.org.au, or Dr Cecily Neil (Chair) on (03) 9682 3992
